Rocky Mountain Rundown #2

Best Duos In The League

Power rankings are one thing, but we all know championships aren’t won on paper. And they’re definitely not won alone.

For article two, I’m breaking down the best 1–2 punches in the league. The duos. The guys who have the chemistry, the balance, and the ability to carry a team when it matters most.
To do this, I ranked every duo (1 through 11) across four categories:

●    Hitting
●    Pitching
●    Fielding/Athleticism
●    Trust

Each ranking translates to points. 1st place earns 11 points, 2nd gets 10, all the way down to 11th receiving 1 point. After ranking all four categories, I totaled the scores to determine the overall standings.

Three of these categories are pretty straightforward. The fourth is Trust which is where things get more subjective. It comes down to one question: do I trust these two players to carry their team to wins? Big hits in clutch moments, shutdown innings in tight games. That's what this category is all about.

This system does favor well rounded duos, and naturally penalizes teams whose top two players aren’t both reliable two way contributors.

A couple quick notes on team selections:

For the Mariners, I’m going with Liberio and CDub. While I believe in Riley, CDub has already proven himself and brings a higher all around floor alongside Lib.
For the Phillies, it’s Colin and Mutz. Pat could absolutely take a step forward, but with Mutz expected to fill the reliever role, he’s the clear choice for this exercise.
Tiebreaker: If two duos finish with the same total points, the edge goes to the pair with the higher combined score in hitting and fielding.
Hitting

1. Noah/Mike - 11 pts
Noah looks like a legitimate MVP candidate, and Mike is simply a tier above most bats in this league.

2. Teddy/Frankie - 10 pts
Proven, experienced hitters who are never easy outs.

3. Cam/Milzy - 9 pts
Cam is a proven elite hitter, and Milzy should benefit from this format.

4. Lib/CDub - 8 pts
Two steady, reliable bats that should consistently produce.

5. Dylan/Chris - 7 pts
Chris should live on base, and Dylan feels due for a bounce back year.

6. Zane/Behn - 6 pts
Zane has elite upside, and Behn remains one of the more underrated hitters around.

7. Boas/Tommy - 5 pts
Boas carries this ranking after being the best hitter last season. If Tommy improves, this jumps.

8. Nate/Johnny - 4 pts
Both should be solid, but the floor isn’t quite as high as the duos above.

9. Sean/Nick - 3 pts
A safer floor than some, but a lower overall ceiling.

10. Colin/Mutz - 2 pts
Colin could put up huge numbers, but Mutz still has to prove it.

11. Polanco/Dennis - 1 pt
Polanco needs to show growth at the plate, and while Dennis is solid, it’s not enough to elevate them here.

Pitching

1. Boas/Tommy - 11 pts
The easiest call on the list.

2. Sean/Nick - 10 pts
Sean is elite, and he consistently gets the most out of his relievers.

3. Zane/Behn - 9 pts
Zane should thrive in this format, and Behn has reliever of the year potential.

4. Teddy/Frankie - 8 pts
Teddy’s competitiveness alone raises the ceiling, and Frankie should translate well.

5. Colin/Mutz - 7 pts
Some projection here, but expectations are high for both.

6. Lib/CDub - 6 pts
Lib should hold steady, and CDub is a strong complement on the mound.

7. Dylan/Chris - 5 pts
Dylan anchors this duo. Chris has potential but needs to prove he’s a reliable #2.

8. Nate/Johnny - 4 pts
Nate should be solid. Johnny’s adjustment to this format will be key.

9. Cam/Milzy - 3 pts
Cam should figure it out, but uncertainty around Milzy’s usage hurts their ranking.

10. Noah/Mike - 2 pts
Noah will be elite, but Mike may not even need to pitch.

11. Polanco/Dennis - 1 pt
Polanco should be great, Dennis could be fine but won’t need to throw.

Fielding / Athleticism

1. Zane/Behn - 11 pts
Game changers defensively and absolute chaos on the bases.

2. Teddy/Frankie - 10 pts
Two strong defenders with athleticism to match.

3. Cam/Milzy - 9 pts
Milzy is elite defensively, and Cam brings constant pressure on the bases.

4. Dylan/Chris - 8 pts
Chris is the best fielder in the league, enough said.

5. Lib/CDub - 7 pts
Solid across the board.

6. Boas/Tommy - 6 pts
Good athletes, just not quite elite defensively.

7. Nate/Johnny - 5 pts
A bit of an unknown with Johnny, which keeps them in the middle.

8. Noah/Mike - 4 pts
Serviceable, but not a standout duo defensively.

9. Colin/Mutz - 3 pts
I still need to see it from Mutz in the field.

10. Polanco/Dennis - 2 pts
Steady, but limited upside.

11. Sean/Nick - 1 pt
Solid defensively, but the lack of speed puts them last here.

Trust

1. Cam/Milzy - 11 pts
Cam is as reliable as it gets, and Milzy has proven he can deliver.

2. Teddy/Frankie - 10 pts
Built for big moments, no fear of the spotlight.

3. Noah/Mike - 9 pts
Mike’s track record in clutch situations speaks for itself.

4. Boas/Tommy - 8 pts
Boas was the best player last season, and Tommy has had plenty of clutch moments.

5. Dylan/Chris - 7 pts
Veterans you trust when the game is on the line.

6. Zane/Behn - 6 pts
Consistent, competitive, and capable in big spots.

7. Lib/CDub - 5 pts
Reliable, just edged out by deeper resumes above.

8. Polanco/Dennis - 4 pts
Dennis brings serious clutch credibility.

9. Sean/Nick - 3 pts
Strong duo, just a crowded category.

10. Colin/Mutz - 2 pts
Colin is proven. Hate to keep saying Mutz has to prove it but he's a rookie, I'm not just giving him flowers.

11. Nate/Johnny - 1 pt
Tough to rank last, but the uncertainty puts them here.

Overall Rankings

1. Teddy/Frankie - 38 pts
Two elite, well-rounded players with no real weakness.

2. Zane/Behn - 32 pts (tiebreaker)
Incredible floor with standout athleticism, must watch every game.

3. Cam/Milzy - 32 pts
If Milzy becomes a reliable arm, they have a real case for #1.

4. Boas/Tommy - 30 pts
Boas will dominate. If Tommy hits, this could be the best duo in the league.

5. Dylan/Chris - 27 pts
A lot hinges on Dylan playing at an MVP level.

6. Lib/CDub - 26 pts (tiebreaker)
If Lib takes over both sides of the game, they’ll outperform this ranking.

7. Noah/Mike - 26 pts
Massive upside if Mike contributes on the mound, this ranking is way too low.

8. Sean/Nick - 17 pts
High floor, elite pitching, but not enough across the board to climb higher.

9. Colin/Mutz - 14 pts (tiebreaker)
Colin should shine, but Mutz is the swing factor.

10. Nate/Johnny - 14 pts
Underrated potential, but too many unknowns.

11. Polanco/Dennis - 8 pts
Two strong one-way players, but the lack of balance hurts them here.

At the end of the day, this list isn’t going to make everyone happy, and it shouldn’t. If you think your duo got snubbed, good. Go prove it. Because on paper, this is how it stacks up. But we all know how fast narratives flip once the games start. One hot stretch, one clutch moment, one breakout performance and suddenly this entire list looks wrong. That’s what makes this league fun. So argue it, debate it, screenshot it, but remember, every ranking here comes with a chance to be proven completely wrong.
