The Phillies

Pollag defended his National League MVP title but came up short this year of the triple crown. Colin performed as a dual threat with his work horse pitching and consistent hitting. He played his role perfectly this year as a lead off hitter batting .339, with a .606 on-base percentage along with 20 hits. His marvelous hitting was followed by his dominant arm. Pollag's combination of  command and arm strength stayed consistent throughout the year with a league leading 0.95 WHIP and 92 strikeouts. Although the Phillies came up short of a title Colin remains as one of the most feared players in the league.

2017 Recap: One that got Away

The Phillies took on the 2017 season looking to capture another title for the succeeding franchise. The year started off with some tough losses against the Yankees and Athletic's. The team looked like they were starting off the season with two wins but were taken by surprise as Austin Bleacher and the Yankees rallied back from a nine run deficit. They bounced back in week three with a one nothing win against the Athletic's behind Colin Pollag's no hitter. The following week was the same score against the same team but this time resulting in a one to nothing loss for the Phil's leaving them with a mediocre .500 record. The loss fired them up and the club finished their last ten games with a nine and one run, outscoring their opponents 42 to 5. The combo of Pollag and Vinny Albanese looked to be unstoppable. Colin was shining in the lead off spot with his 20 hits and .339 average and Vinny provided the power with 4 home runs and league best 31 runs batted in. The eleven and three record gave the Phillies the number seed in the National League along with a first round bye. Only issue? They had a date with the Cinderella story Yankees in the National League Championship Series. Game one of the best of three series was a score of two to nothing in favor of the Phillies behind Pollag's one-hit gem. However, the team's season came to an end after the Yankees won each of the final two games by scores of four to nothing. Colin stated, "I admit it was a tough loss and a disappointing way to end the season but Vinny Alabanese was my favorite teammate ever to play with." The club is eager in 2018 to try and recapture the Championship trophy once again.
